Acupuncture (in Mandarin Chinese) is a therapy coming from the Far East, that aims at reaching a state of health and wellbeing through the restoration of bodily balance, by inserting tiny needles into specific body parts, identified by trained staff. In China, the practice of acupuncture started in 3000 b.C and related archaeological evidence date back to the Han Dinasty from 202 b.C. to 220 b.C.. Then it spread to many areas of Asia, it is now an element of Chinese traditional medicine.
In Western countries acupuncture is practiced by doctors that consider it as a complementary or alternative medicine. They do not use needles but they are based on a theory called Emotional Freedom Techniques invented by the American Gary Craig, in which the points of acupuncture are "tapped". This therapy consists in mitigating painful states and healing many disorders thanks to it analgesic properties.
